Japanese Woodblock Prints
What's the next best thing to an original Japanese woodblock print? A fine art reproduction by Bumblejax! What we do is print a high quality digital reproduction of the original Japanese art to professional quality photo paper and mount the image to any material of your choosing. We definitely feel it works best when paired with our beautiful bamboo product. The end result is gallery quality Japanese woodblock art at a fraction of the price of the original and it will last a lifetime.
We believe our sanded and stained bamboo is the best material for the Japanese Woodblock Prints, but we have many options if you'd prefer another look! We offer acrylic, birch, aluminum, dibond and birch too. Give us a shout over the phone, live chat (below) or email and we can provide a free consultation to help you find the best product for YOU.

Gallery Quality - 10 Years In Business
All of our products are produced with attention to detail and quality found in gallery quality prints. We have 10 years under our belt producing these in Seattle and never outsource any part of it.
We Do It The Old Fashioned Way For Superior Results
Many companies will print directly to the wood or whatever substrate they are selling. It's faster and cheaper but doesn't provide the highest quality result. We do things the old fashioned way here resulting in the greatest color accuracy and longevity for your Japanase woodblock prints.
Going The Extra Mile - Hand Sanded & Stained
We could print the image and mount it to bamboo, add the hang and float hardware then ship it. We put a little more love into it than that. Each bamboo print is hand sanded and stained to bring out the beautiful patterns of the bamboo side.
Any Custom Size.
We can do any custom size for you down to the 1/4" increment. The max size we can in the bamboo is 40x30" but if you need much larger we can do a dibond or acrylic reproduction of the Japanese woodblock prints up to a whopping 96x48".
Highly Durable & Eco Friendly.
Bamboo is fast growing and one of the most sustainable wood products around. It’s also incredibly durable and 4x more dimensionally stable than oak.
Woodblock prints had been around for centuries to disseminate text and reproduce art, but it wasn't until the 18th century that the Japanese began to evolve the artistic process into expressions of original art enhanced by a wider array of colors depicting seductive scenes, romantic landscapes, sumo wrestlers, and dramatic historical events. The golden age of Japanese woodblock prints was the period between 1603 and 1868 during a time of peace and prosperity (referred to as the Edo Period). The genre is referred to as ukiyo-e which translates to "pictures of the floating world" and involves a complex and intricate form of print making where sketches are carved to wood blocks which are then used to stamp the image into a paper print.
There are a few websites out there selling original Japanese woodblock prints that range from under $100 to many thousands of dollars. These sites are terrific resources for collectors and fans of the original art. What we provide here at Bumblejax are giclee reproductions where the digitized original is printed to fine art paper and optionally mounted to materials such as bamboo, aluminum, birch or acrylic for a beautiful, contemporary look. We can produce these in any custom size for you up to about 40" (depending on the quality of the digital reproduction). Pricing ranges from about $50 to $400 depending on the size.
